How GiltIQ works, one job at a time: the ten task guides, your account and what the site stores, and where each of the old answers now lives.
GiltIQ publishes UK gilt prices and yields from a fresh daily market report, and gives you a private place to track a portfolio and plan income. The market pages are public; anything that records your trades or preferences needs a free account. All of it is information only, not investment advice — see the terms of use.

Your account
Register at create an account with a username and a password, typed twice; no email address is asked for. Sign in from the link at the right of the header, and that corner becomes a menu holding your username, Profile, Change password and Sign out. The Profile page carries two defaults the rest of the site falls back on — the settlement delay, T+1 or T+2, and your default tax rate — and the API key; Change password, in the same menu, has its own page.
What the site stores
- Passwords are stored as BCrypt hashes, never as plaintext and never emailed.
- Sign-in uses a signed HMAC session cookie carrying your session identity alone; the site also sets a CSRF-protection cookie.
- There are no advertising or analytics cookies and no third-party trackers.
- Portfolios, trades and your watchlist live under your account in private object storage, shown only to you. No email address, real name, payment detail or browsing profile is collected.
Reverse a trade on Trades or delete a portfolio from Portfolios, which purges its trade ledger too, and delete a group to unassign its portfolios rather than remove them; the first two are irreversible. To remove the account itself, follow the deletion request in the privacy policy, which also covers a copy or a correction.
The longer guides
Four parts of the site have a guide rather than a task doc: the taxable income report and the accrued income scheme, in the taxable income guide; cash flow analysis; the bond ladder, in the ladder in two modes; and the Assistant, in its own guide at the Assistant. The market insights page summarises the latest report — its key rates, its movers and the reports behind them — in one view.
