The Assistant answers questions about gilt prices, yield history and your own holdings in plain English, and can draw the answer as a chart. Chat needs a signed-in account.
The Assistant is a question box you can address in natural language instead of hunting through tables and charts. Ask it about a gilt, about the market or about your own holdings, and the idea is to get back the answer the data supports — as close to asking a colleague as a website can get.
What you can ask
- Market data — for example “Which gilts mature in 2030?” or “What happened to gilt yields over the past month?”.
- Portfolio questions — for example “What is my largest holding?” or “Show my taxable income”. The Assistant will only ever see your own account data, kept separate from every other user's.
- Site questions — for example “Where do I find the bond ladder?”.
What it reads, and what it saves
Signed in, the Assistant reads the same gilt data as the rest of the site — a gilt's figures by ticker or ISIN, its yield history over a window of days, and a search across every gilt in issue — together with your own portfolios and their valuations. It answers in prose, and draws a chart when the answer is a series. Each conversation is saved to your account, so you can come back to one later or delete it. The bond ladder guide, the taxable income guide and the market insights page are still the quickest routes when you want the whole picture rather than one answer.
Keep it in perspective
The Assistant is an information tool. It gives general answers about bond prices, yields and how the site works; it is not financial advice, and its answers should be checked against the underlying tables before you act on them.
